Destination America!

After a month's preparation,we finally took our cab to Bangalore international airport to board our flight to the US of A.The highlight of the day was that it was  my daughter's first flight. It didn't matter that the flight was at 6.30 in the morning and we had to be ready for the cab by 3 AM ;which meant Tessa was woken and dressed up after merely 4 hrs of sleep;she was still as fresh as a daisy.I just had to say the magic words"dont you want to go on the aeroplane?"

For the last 2 months, day and night this has been my lifeline to get her to do the difficult things. You know ;like eat her vegetables,to get her to sleep,to get her to share toys with other kids,to even get her to stop digging her nose!Almost everything would be like"Tessa.if you do that i think the air hostess will not let you in  or if you dont eat well they wont take you in flight since you are underweight."Ya i know its called blackmail but to me it was my lifeline! Was i glad that she was only 3 and not 10!

Knowing my daughter i knew she wouldn't really take much time to adjust.I had thought atleast it would take a couple of weeks time, but nope after we reached the US late evening, she was up and awake the next day morning(US time mind you) without any jetlag whatsoever.I even googled to find out whether jet lag is only for us adults! My biggest worry was she would be bored as she didnt have any friends here and she wouldn't be starting school immediately. But little did i realise it takes small things to keep her happy, a nice bath in the tub, some time in the park, reading some stories, allowing her to help me with the laundry, chasing after squirrels or getting to eat her favorite fruit strawberry all made her equally happy.

Before i knew it Tessa had made new friends,i know atleast 5 she made in the first week;every kid who came in the play area was given these lines" whats your name?My name is Tessa" she didnt wait to be asked:)Kids really dont need any language to communicate i guess, they just smile at each other, hold hands and speak their own language in their own slang and still understand each other perfectly well.Whatever else i need to worry about, this is not on that worry-list at-least for now "Will Tessa get adjusted to a new place?"

P.S: Tessa got really lucky today and we managed to bring a squirrel home. She will be busy for atleast 2 days now:)
